Coupang Rocket Growth Stock: Can an ERP Set It via API?

An enterprise resource planning system (ERP) cannot set Coupang Rocket Growth stock by sending a new quantity through the standard Open API. Coupang's published FAQ says the regular Open API cannot currently query Rocket Growth products. Its Rocket Growth guide also says item-quantity changes are not supported. The separate Rocket Growth Order API can retrieve order information, but it does not let the ERP set product stock.

What Coupang's Open API actually does

The Open API is Coupang's standard software connection for seller data. An ERP or connector uses it to send and receive data without a person entering every update in Coupang's seller interface.

But the Open API is not one universal control panel for every Coupang program. A connection that works with seller-shipped listings is not automatically able to query or change Rocket Growth product stock.

You can verify these limits in Coupang's official developer documentation. Coupang's FAQ and Rocket Growth guide separate the jobs like this:

QuestionWhat Coupang's official materials sayWhat that means for your ERP
Can the regular Open API query Rocket Growth products?Coupang's published FAQ says this is not currently supported.Do not assume a normal product lookup will show Rocket Growth stock.
Can the regular Open API change a Rocket Growth item quantity?Coupang's Rocket Growth guide says item-quantity changes are not supported.Do not plan to set Rocket Growth stock with a new API quantity.
Can a separate Rocket Growth API retrieve orders? The Rocket Growth Order API retrieves order information. An ERP may pull orders without controlling product stock.
How does Rocket Growth stock increase?Stock sent to Coupang must be physically received, and the sent amount must be compared with the received amount.Replenishment starts with an inbound shipment, not a stock-setting call.

A generic Coupang connection does not replace the physical receipt that establishes Rocket Growth stock.

Why Rocket Growth stock starts with a physical inbound

Rocket Growth stock depends on what Coupang physically receives.

A brand or its Korea operator sends stock to Coupang. The quantity Coupang receives becomes the product quantity used for Rocket Growth.

That makes two numbers important: the amount sent and the amount received. Your ERP may show a warehouse count, a planned inbound amount, or a shipment amount. Those numbers can help your team plan, but they do not prove what Coupang has received.

Imagine a US home-goods brand using a connector. The brand packs cartons for a Rocket Growth replenishment, and its ERP updates the shipment information. The connector also pulls Coupang order information. The team then assumes that the same connection can write the new Rocket Growth quantity.

The connector cannot make that change. The brand must send the cartons to Coupang, check how much Coupang received, and use that received amount for Rocket Growth stock planning. If the sent and received amounts differ, the team should resolve that difference before treating the shipment as new Coupang stock.

This is also why the internal stock number should show what it represents. Label one figure as the amount sent. Label another as the amount Coupang received. Do not combine both into one number called “Coupang stock” when the regular Open API cannot provide or change that value.

A planned or dispatched quantity is not the same as a quantity Coupang received. For the physical shipment details, see what to ship to Coupang Rocket Growth and who owns it.

Why an order connection is not a stock connection

Coupang documents a separate Rocket Growth Order API for retrieving order information. That separation matters because an ERP may be able to pull orders while having no way to set Rocket Growth product stock.

Keep order retrieval and stock control as separate checks: can the system retrieve orders, and can it query or change Rocket Growth stock?

A “yes” to the first question is not a “yes” to the second. Order information can help a brand see demand and decide when to plan another shipment. It does not create new stock at Coupang, and it does not provide an item-quantity change function.

A general claim such as “this tool integrates with Coupang” is too broad to answer the stock question. It may describe order retrieval. It may describe seller-shipped listings. It may describe another part of the seller account. Ask which Rocket Growth API the tool uses and which exact data it can read or change.

The same caution applies when an ERP displays a stock field. That field may represent the brand's own warehouse, stock prepared for dispatch, stock already sent, or a planning estimate. Unless the system can show the amount Coupang received, do not present the field as Coupang's Rocket Growth quantity.

A replenishment plan that does not depend on a stock-setting API

You can still use an ERP for Rocket Growth planning. Give each number a clear meaning, and keep the physical inbound step in the plan.

  1. Use order information as a planning input. If the connector supports the separate Rocket Growth Order API, use the order information to understand demand. Do not call that data current Rocket Growth stock.
  2. Separate your internal quantities. Keep the amount ready in your warehouse, the amount sent to Coupang, and the amount Coupang received as different figures when they apply.
  3. Plan the next physical inbound. To add Rocket Growth stock, arrange another shipment to Coupang. Changing the ERP quantity does not send more stock to Coupang.
  4. Compare sent and received amounts. After the shipment reaches Coupang, check what was sent against what Coupang received. Keep both figures so the team can see which number it is using.
  5. Use the received amount for Rocket Growth planning. Base the next replenishment decision on the quantity Coupang received, not only on an ERP update made when the cartons left your warehouse.

This plan separates planning from physical receipt. Your ERP can hold orders and shipment information. An ERP cannot replace Coupang's physical receipt. The standard Open API cannot query Rocket Growth products, and the Rocket Growth guide does not support item-quantity changes.

Questions to ask before choosing an ERP connector

A connector that pulls Coupang orders is not automatically a connector that controls Rocket Growth stock. Ask for Rocket Growth-specific proof before you rely on it for replenishment.

Ask the connector provider these questions before signing or building an integration:

  1. Does the Coupang connection support Rocket Growth specifically, or only seller-shipped listings?
  2. Can it retrieve Rocket Growth order information through the separate Rocket Growth Order API?
  3. Can it query Rocket Growth products through the regular Open API? Coupang's published FAQ says this is not currently supported, so the provider should explain exactly what its product view shows instead.
  4. Can it change a Rocket Growth item quantity? Ask for the exact Coupang documentation or endpoint. A button called “stock sync” is not enough.
  5. Can it show the amount sent to Coupang and the amount Coupang received? If not, ask who checks those two amounts and where the team keeps them.
  6. Will the provider demonstrate the connector with a Rocket Growth product? A demo using only a seller-shipped listing does not answer the Rocket Growth question.

The most useful answer is specific. You want to know whether the connector can pull order information, show a Coupang-side quantity, or change a Coupang-side quantity. Those are three different jobs.

If the provider cannot separate these jobs, base replenishment on a physical inbound shipment and a receipt check.

Common questions about Rocket Growth stock and APIs

What is the Rocket Growth Order API for?

It is for retrieving order information. An ERP may use it to pull orders while still having no function to set Rocket Growth item quantity.

What should you do when the ERP and Coupang show different quantities?

First identify what each number means. Compare the amount you sent with the amount Coupang received. Do not call the ERP number Coupang's Rocket Growth quantity unless the receipt confirms it.
