Test Korea on Coupang — without setting up in Korea.
We run your brand's cross-border store on Coupang, in Coupang's Rocket Direct Import (로켓직구) program. You stay the seller, Coupang Global Fulfillment (CGF) stores and delivers your stock, and Korean shoppers buy from you directly. No Korean entity, no importer, no Korean bank account.
Who does what
Korean shoppers call it jikgu (직구): buying direct from overseas. Coupang's Rocket Direct Import program puts those purchases on Coupang. Direct puts your brand there, with us running the store.
You are the seller
Your brand sells under its own Coupang seller account, registered in WING, Coupang's seller console. Prices and brand decisions stay with you.
Coupang stores and delivers
You ship stock to Coupang's cross-border fulfillment warehouse. CGF picks, packs and ships each order, and Korean customers typically receive it in 3–5 days.
The shopper imports
Each order clears Korean customs as the shopper's own personal-use import. Nobody imports your goods in bulk — not you, and not Kontactic — which is why no Korean company is needed.
We run the store
We optimize your Coupang listings in Korean, run your Coupang ads and answer Korean-language customer calls. With Direct Plus we also register products, watch stock and plan marketing beyond Coupang.
For brands that want to test Korea first
You don't need proof of Korean demand to start. Direct is how you get it: real orders, search terms and reviews from Korean shoppers on Coupang — without hiring anyone or forming a company in Korea.
- Brands selling from Europe, Japan, the US, mainland China or Hong Kong — the markets where Coupang runs Rocket Direct Import and CGF.
- Brands with no Korean company, and no wish to form one before they see results.
- Brands already reaching Korean customers through other cross-border channels that want a proper store on Coupang.
- Teams that want Korean-language listings, ads and customer service handled without a Korean hire.
Direct Lite or Direct Plus
A monthly fee plus a commission on your monthly sales on Coupang. Both plans have a six-month minimum term.
Direct Lite
You list and ship. We optimize, advertise and answer calls.
- Account and listing optimization: Korean product titles and search keywords
- Listings reworked at launch and whenever sales stall
- Coupang ads set up and managed
- Korean-language phone customer service, based on the product manual you provide
Direct Plus
We run the store. You send the stock.
- Everything in Direct Lite
- Products registered on Coupang for you
- Stock monitored — we tell you what to restock and when
- Sales and competitor analysis, turned into a plan
- Marketing outside Coupang planned and run when you set a budget, with agencies and influencers coordinated by us
- Commission: 5% on monthly sales up to KRW 30 million, 4% on the part from KRW 30 million to 100 million, 3% on the part above KRW 100 million
Direct Plus rates are marginal: each rate applies only to the part of a month's sales that falls inside its band. Coupang's own fees — category commission, and CGF pick & pack, shipping and storage — are paid by you to Coupang and are not part of our price.
What you do yourself
You are the seller on Coupang, so a few jobs stay with you on either plan.
With Direct Lite
Register your WING seller account and submit Coupang's documents. Register your products on Coupang — we then optimize them. Ship all your stock to Coupang's cross-border fulfillment warehouse.
With Direct Plus
Register your WING seller account and submit Coupang's documents. Send the first shipment to Coupang's cross-border fulfillment warehouse, then ship restock when we ask for it. We register the products.
How the money moves
With Direct, your sales money never passes through Kontactic.
Coupang pays you
Coupang settles your sales directly to the account registered in your WING seller account, on Coupang's own schedule.
Coupang's fees go to Coupang
Category commission and CGF fulfillment fees — pick & pack, shipping and storage — are Coupang's charges, set by Coupang and paid to Coupang.
We invoice you monthly
Our monthly fee and commission come as one invoice each month. The commission is calculated from your sales data in WING, which you give us read access to.
From first call to first order
You keep the seller account. We do the Korean-side work.
Intro call
We look at your products, where you sell from and what you want to learn about Korea, then recommend Direct Lite or Direct Plus.
Agreement
You sign up for your chosen plan, with a six-month minimum term.
WING seller account
You register your Coupang seller account in WING and submit Coupang's documents — we tell you what is needed. You then give us access to run the store and read the sales data.
Listings
With Direct Lite you register the products and we optimize the Korean titles and keywords. With Direct Plus we register them for you.
First shipment and launch
You ship stock to Coupang's cross-border fulfillment warehouse. Once Coupang has received it, your products can sell, and we start running ads and answering customer calls.
When Korea says yes
Direct answers one question: do Korean shoppers want your product? When your sales say yes, these are the next steps.
Your own Korean entity
Form your own Korean company (유한회사). It can import in bulk and sell from stock held in Korea — on Coupang and on other Korean channels.
About entity setupBlaze — Full managed operations on your own Korean entity
We run your Korean entity day to day: administration, store operations and growth marketing. Blaze asks for proof of Korean demand, and your Direct sales record is exactly that.
About BlazeSpark Subscription — Coupang IoR & SoR for approved sellers in mainland China
If Coupang has approved you as a seller in mainland China, you can sell locally under our Korean entity, with Kontactic as Importer and Seller of Record — no entity of your own.
About Spark SubscriptionCommon questions
No. With Direct you sell cross-border from outside Korea under your own Coupang seller account. You need no Korean entity, no Korean importer and no Korean bank account.
The shopper. Each order ships from Coupang's cross-border fulfillment warehouse to the customer and clears Korean customs as a personal-use import. Neither you nor Kontactic imports the goods into Korea, so neither of us acts as Importer of Record. (Importing into Korea under our entity is a different service: Spark.)
It is Coupang's cross-border program: Korean shoppers buy from overseas sellers on Coupang and receive the goods as personal imports — what Koreans call jikgu (직구), "direct purchase". Coupang Global Fulfillment (CGF) stores and ships the stock. Direct is Kontactic's service for running your brand's store in that program; it is not a Coupang product.
Coupang pays you directly, to the account registered in your WING seller account, on Coupang's settlement schedule. Your sales money never passes through Kontactic. We invoice our fee and commission separately, once a month.
Coupang's category commission, which varies by product category, and CGF fulfillment fees: pick & pack, shipping to the customer, and storage. These are Coupang's charges, paid to Coupang under Coupang's terms. They are not part of our price.
On your monthly sales on Coupang, read from WING. Direct Lite is a flat 2.5%. Direct Plus uses marginal bands: 5% on sales up to KRW 30 million, 4% on the part from KRW 30 million to 100 million, and 3% on the part above KRW 100 million. For example, a month with KRW 50 million in sales on Direct Plus carries a commission of KRW 2.3 million (5% of 30 million plus 4% of 20 million), plus the USD 1,000 monthly fee.
Yes. Both Direct Lite and Direct Plus have a six-month minimum term.
Direct works wherever Coupang runs Rocket Direct Import and CGF: Europe, Japan, the US, mainland China and Hong Kong. If your brand ships from somewhere else, ask us and we will tell you whether Coupang's program covers it.
Yes — that is what Direct is built for. Once your sales show Korean demand, you can form your own Korean entity (entity setup is a separate service) and move to Blaze, where we run operations on your entity. Blaze asks for demand evidence, and your Direct sales record is exactly that. Coupang-approved sellers in mainland China can instead use Spark Subscription, where our Korean entity is Importer and Seller of Record.
No. With Direct your brand is the seller, and the stock in Coupang's warehouse is yours. Kontactic never buys, holds or imports your goods — we run the store and charge our published fees.
You are. As the seller, your brand is responsible for product claims, labeling, safety, and meeting the rules for selling your product to Korean customers. We point out problems we see in your listings, but compliance stays with you, as on every Kontactic service.
Find out what Korea thinks of your product.
Tell us what you sell and where you ship from. We'll tell you plainly whether Direct fits and which plan makes sense.
